Dawn of the Dreamer by L.J. Higgins

Dawn of the Dreamer (Dreamer Trilogy, #1)
Title and Author- Dawn of the Dreamer by L.J. Higgins

This Book was amazing! This book was very realistic for a dystopian novel. Higgins was able to create a world that didn't seem "overdone", but still seemed very interesting. I have never read a book like this one. Dawn of the Dreamer also had a love triangle that many novels have, but this love triangle didn't bother me as much. I did think that parts of this book were a little overdone, but it wasn't a big deal. I would still recommend this book to anyone.

Synopsis
In 2023, the innovative MultiMind Corporation (MMC) released a stylish Wristcuff to be worn over a microchip implanted beneath its host’s skin, giving the wearer pleasant dreams. Better sleep promotes a peaceful lifestyle and improved health. At least this is what the MMC have the population believing. There are those for whom this technology fails to work: Dreamers. They’re shunned because of their inability to adapt and evolve like the rest of the human race.

Amelia is a Dreamer, and the veil of ignorance is lifted when she meets someone who helps her see through the lies and secrets of the MMC. With her world shaken and changed, Amelia has to decide whether to fight for the freedom to dream or take the ‘next step in evolution’ with the rest of society at the risk of losing her ability to think and dream for herself.

Synopsis
The “Invitation to the Chase” arrives in the post without warning. Inscribed in silver ink on black paper, the anonymous summons expresses a simple challenge: to find the priceless Templar Diamond.

Stolen in 1896 from St. Peter’s Cathedral in Belfast, the Templar Diamond has been missing for six years, with the suspects still at large. Now there is hope of its discovery in Boston, if the cryptic invitation can be believed. But is it a ruse?

Jack Tuohay, Belfast Inspector 2nd class, is an inheritor of one such invitation. Professionally discredited for allowing the diamond theft to occur on his watch, he is desperate for a chance at redemption. But the new circumstances are not without stakes, as demonstrated by the murder of a second recipient of the invitation, a Boston priest.

It seems the search for the missing diamond is a deadly one.

Tuohay, with ties to both the diamond and the dead priest, is grudgingly assigned the case by his superiors. Along with two former sleuthing companions, Eliza Wilding, and John Eldredge, he pursues the priest’s killer and the lost diamond. It is not long before the companions find themselves entwined in a web of ciphers, puzzles, and ruses where one step closer to the diamond is also one step closer to the fatal consequences surrounding it.

The chase is on.

Dodgers is a book that surprised me and kept me wanting more. This story is unforgettable and exciting. I wouldn't have chosen this book without reading reviews and I am so happy that I chose to pick it up. I did enjoy it, but I wanted more to the story. Everything else was perfect and I wouldn't change a thing!

Synopsis
Dodgers is a dark, unforgettable coming-of-age journey that recalls the very best of Richard Price, Denis Johnson, and J.D. Salinger. It is the story of a young LA gang member named East, who is sent by his uncle along with some other teenage boys—including East's hothead younger brother—to kill a key witness hiding out in Wisconsin. The journey takes East out of a city he's never left and into an America that is entirely alien to him, ultimately forcing him to grapple with his place in the world and decide what kind of man he wants to become.

Written in stark and unforgettable prose and featuring an array of surprising and memorable characters rendered with empathy and wit, Dodgers heralds the arrival of a major new voice in American fiction

This cute book is about a little monkey who learns how to eat with a fork and knife. It's a super cute story that teaches readers that learning can be important but it should be integrated into your life. It shouldn't take over your life. This story is a great story that early readers will love!

Synopsis
Bholu, a monkey, comes to the city looking for adventure. In a short time he learns city ways and when he returns to the forest, he continues with them.
Knife and Fork is Bholu's story and how he learns three important lessons:
"Monkey ways are right for monkeys just as human ways are right for human beings."
"Food and fun are meant to be shared with friends."
"Losing friends is easy, winning them back is not."

Knife and Fork is written in the tradition of fables of yore. The character of the monkey is bound to attract most children. The story itself can be used to start discussions with children about cultural differences, about friendship, and about accepting oneself.
Like the other books in the Chapter Book Series, Knife and Fork has short, easy-to- read chapters. making it suitable for all young readers, including Beginner and Reluctant Readers.

Synopsis
Neil Gaiman meets Joe Hill in this astonishingly original, terrifying, and darkly funny contemporary fantasy.

Carolyn's not so different from the other human beings around her. She's sure of it. She likes guacamole and cigarettes and steak. She knows how to use a phone. She even remembers what clothes are for.

After all, she was a normal American herself, once.

That was a long time ago, of course—before the time she calls “adoption day,” when she and a dozen other children found themselves being raised by a man they learned to call Father.

Father could do strange things. He could call light from darkness. Sometimes he raised the dead. And when he was disobeyed, the consequences were terrible.

In the years since Father took her in, Carolyn hasn't gotten out much. Instead, she and her adopted siblings have been raised according to Father's ancient Pelapi customs. They've studied the books in his library and learned some of the secrets behind his equally ancient power.

Sometimes, they've wondered if their cruel tutor might secretly be God.

Now, Father is missing. And if God truly is dead, the only thing that matters is who will inherit his library—and with it, power over all of creation.

As Carolyn gathers the tools she needs for the battle to come, fierce competitors for this prize align against her.

But Carolyn can win. She's sure of it. What she doesn't realize is that her victory may come at an unacceptable price—because in becoming a God, she's forgotten a great deal about being human.

City of Blades by Robert Jackson Bennett

City of Blades (The Divine Cities, #2)
Title and Author- City of Blades by Robert Jackson Bennett
Publisher- Broadway Books
Page Number- 484
My rating:4 of 5 stars
 Reviewer- Stephanie

City of Blades is the second book of Divine Cities series, this novel is a continuation of the City of Stairs. Both of these books are amazing, I loved the way that Bennett writes this story. This series is very unique, this book can be a standalone as well but knowing what happens before might help the reader understand more information about the plot. This story seemed to be very multicultural and very diverse in my eyes. Overall a great and exciting read!
